How cute and full of energy. I did a lot of laughing, especially when the puppy ran into the cameraman. :-) Very smart little guy.
I believe we are still having the R.E.A.D. training this Saturday. The person was waiting for more to sign up so that they had a total of 10 people. I will have to email her again.
I am working the local Career Fair in the morning but will go over for the training at Noon.
We have two unique programs that we are most excited about. One is the R.E.A.D. program with the Iowa City Public Schools, Library and Beaverdale Books. Simply put, it is a literacy program for youth. The other program is our Abilities Through Agility Program at ChildServe. This integrates dog agility with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy in a group environment. Ultimately, we are striving to expand this program to make it an event at the Special Olympics.
Additionally, we have Pet Partner teams at these facilities: Burlington Alcohol & Drug Dependency Services, Great River Mental Health Care Associates, Iowa Heart, Windsor Manor - Alzheimer's Unit, 3801 Grand and St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
We are currently raising our very first service dogs that will be trained to help individuals with special needs. Our next puppy will be started in April 2009.
If you would like more-detailed information about our programs, feel free to contact us. We have stories galore!
